Automation of the RR Art 5 Satellite Examinations

 

           An example of software to deal with Art.5 database is described. The software modules are developed according to specification in the preliminary draft WP 4A new Recommendation (PDNR) for Automation of examination the Article 5 compliance with some extensions.

The proposed software is structured with separate modules:

Main Windows platform;

Separate modules for different topics.

 

Common specification

Every open window has its own dialog, menu, options and parameters (Fig.1).

           The proposed software package incorporate the following main features:

Satellite data extraction from SRS database;

Separate database generation for extracted satellite data with the name of the network;

Data validation for correct satellite data (Pd, Bw);

Selection of the examination options;

Art. 5 examination;

Show results of the Art.5 examination;

Show results of the automation footnotes examination;

Generate output reports in table and text format;

PFD calculations;

Satellite data and examination results are saved for future use.

 

Main Windows platform.

 The proposed Main platform (Fig.2) is a stand-alone application, developed under C++. It is an enhanced Multi-Document template with incorporated dialog and with Automation feature (OLE). The main module involves common functions for satellite data extraction, database operations and interfaces for connection to external *.DLL modules and to Access databases and instructions to open other windows and dialogs (to view satellite data or results of Art.5 examination);

 

Functions in Main platform.

The following instructions are navigated from the Main platform:

Satellite Data entry for searching networks;

Function to find a list of networks with common parameter (part of the name “like”, belong to a administration, in orbital segment);

Function for selecting satellite network;

Function for Satellite Data extraction;

Functions for Art.5 and other examinations;

Calculation functions;

Chained calculations for a list of satellite;

Show results of the Art. 5 examination;

Show results of the automation footnotes examination;

Generate output reports in table and text format;

PFD calculations;

Instructions to open other windows and dialogs (to view satellite data or results of the Art.5 examination);

Instructions to open dialogs to upgrade the Art. 5 database.

Data extraction and PFD options;

Functions to swish to other windows;

Test the times spend for different calculations.

 

Select a list of the networks with common parameters.

The list of networks with common parameters is selecting by:

part of the name in  edit box “Sat Name Like:”;

 belonging to a administration – in  edit box “ADM:”;

or  belonging to a organization – in  edit box “Organisation:”;

 in orbital segment – “GEO Pos=”, “dPos +/-“.

The last selected option has a priority.

 

The list of networks is extracted by clicking the button “Find Satellites”. The list is extracted from SRS database and is entered in the combo box.

The desired Satellite network is selected by clicking its name in the combo list. The common satellite parameters are shown in the edit boxes.

 The Notice ID and the name of the selected satellite are entered in the combo box for selected networks (Fig.4). This is the list of the networks for chained calculations. The network can be deleted from the list by double clicking its Notice ID.
